World honoured Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th Birth Anniversary, the International Non-Violence Day

October 02 is observed as the International Day of Non-violence, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This year in 2019, the world is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Peace Icon who led India to Independence. On this day, UN Postal Administration has issued stamp of Mahatma Gandhi in an event at UN Headquarters on Wednesday. The UN issued commemorative stamp illustrates Gandiji's message on it.

Gandhiji followed the path of peace, love and integrity to lead the movement against the colonial rule in India. On the very special day of the 150th anniversay of Mahatma Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi released commemorative Rs 150 coins.

Indian Embassy Partnered LaPoste of France also honoured Mahatma Gandhi by issuing the postage stamp with the image of Mahatma Gandhi. Uzbekistan Post Association “O’zbekiston Pochtasi”  with the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications also issued the postage stamp depicting a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi with an inscription in Uzbek and English languages"150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi”. The stamp has been issued under the series of "Outstanding Leaders".

Russia also celebrated the day by launching a special postage stamp depicting Mahatma Gandhi himself. Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the stamp to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on September 04, 2019. A series of events has been organized to celebrate this day and showcase the importance of close relations between india and Russia.

India also celebrated the day by organizing different events across the country. On this day PM Modi has appealed nation to make India plastic free.
