Nobel Peace For Abiy Ahmed and Economics Nobel For India-Born Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo, Michael Kremer

The 2019 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Abiy Ahmed Ali for his efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation, and in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea, on October 11, 2019. The Nobel Prize for Economics was awarded to Indian-American Abhijit Banerjee, Ester Duflo, Michael Kremer for study on global poverty.

Abiy Ahmed, an Ethiopian Prime Minister, won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, for his efforts to resolve the long-running conflict with neighbouring foe Eritrea.

Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo are professors at MIT in the US while Michael Kremer is a professor at Harvard University. Ms Duflo is the second woman and the youngest person to win the Nobel Economics Prize after Elinor Ostrom in 2009. Their new experiment-based approach has transformed economics development for alleviating global poverty.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has congratulated Abhijit Banerjee on his Nobel prize on twitter.

All of them will receive the award at a formal ceremony in Stockholm on December 10, the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel.
