PM Narendra Modi: World's Most Powerful Person 2019
Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi has won the reader’s poll for world’s most powerful person 2019 conducted by British Herald, a leading British magazine. He won the reader's poll with 30.9% votes.
More than 25 world leaders were nominated in the reader's poll. Among those, four candidates were selected for the final round based on extensive study and research. Mr. Modi's closest competitors were Russia's Vlamidir Putin with 29.9% votes, Donald Trump (US) with 21.9% votes, and China's Xi Jinping with 18.1% votes.
The voting process was not like a regular voting system. The readers of the magazine had voted through a mandatory one- time password (OTP) for validating their votes. During the voting period, the magazine's website crashed due to the number of voters taking part in the voting process. The website got three million hits in a week.
PM Modi will be featured on the cover page of British Herald Magazine which will be released on 15th July 2019. Prior to this, the British magazine has featured Jacinda Ardern in May-June issue and Vladimir Putin in Mar-April issue.
PM Modi is known as one of the top influential global leaders. He has gained popularity as a world leader in recent years through his successful official foreign visits and meetings with US President Donald Trump, China's Xi Jinping, and Vladimir Putin.
Mr. Modi has won the 2019 General Election of India and has become the Prime Minister for the second time. His idea of implementing schemes like Ayushman Bharat - a health insurance scheme for 500 million citizens, Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojna - free LPG connection for 60 million people below the poverty line and Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan for making India a clean country has gained him more popularity among the people around the globe.
