Father’s Day 2019:How and when it was started?

Like Mother, Father also plays a vital role in everyone's life. He strives really hard to fulfill each and every demand of yours. Still, his contributions are not recognized as that of the mother. Hence, to honor their contribution and paternal bond, fathers day is celebrated around the world. It is celebrated on various days in more than 111 countries, most commonly in the months of March, April, and June.

Most of the countries like India, US, Canada, Pakistan celebrates this day on the third Sunday of June. There are various stories behind celebrating fathers day. The first fathers day was celebrated on July 5, 1908, in Fairmont, West Virginia of the United States by Grace Golden Clayton. She was an orphan and strived hard to make this day special. This dedicated this day to the 210 people who lost their lives in an accident on December 06, 1907.

People celebrate this day in their own way. In India, this day gained popularity after it was first celebrated in the US in 1908. This day is usually celebrated only in bigger cities of India like Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kanpur, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune, Nagpur, and others. Children give gifts like greeting cards, electronic gadgets, shirts, hand made gifts, coffee mugs or books to their fathers.
