Earth Hour 2019 : Do you know about Earth Hour #connect2earth ?

Earth Hour 2019 was scheduled on Saturday, March 30 from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm.

Earth Hour with its open source movement #connect2earth is a worldwide campaign which is held annually by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).  This movement aims to boost awareness among the people globally about the impact of environmental climate changes on Mother Earth. This is an electric light-off event, during which the electric light is turned off for one hour, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm which is usually held on the last Saturday of March.

Earth Hour was started in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Now people from about 187 countries take part in this event to spread awareness to reduce the energy consumption and the effect of the environment changes. The Organizations around the world like The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the International Trade Union Confederation, HSBC, Woodland, Philips and many more.

During this event, some of the World’s most famous monuments are kept in darkness to draw the attention of the people to the going on climate changes. Paris, which is known as the city of Lights, also participates in this event by turning off the light of the Eiffel Tower. In Hong Kong, lights of the famous landmarks like the Bank of China Tower and the HSBC Building is also switched off to show their support. Other countries that participate in this movement include Spain, Italy, Taiwan, Poland, France, Brazil and many more
