Do you know about 'PRESIDENTS DAY' ??


      President's Day is a federal holiday in the United States which is celebrated on the third Monday of February.

    This year, it is being celebrated on 18 February, 2019. This day is celebrated to honor all the former Presidents of the United States, including George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, as their birth dates falls close to the same time of February. This day is also known as 'Washington’s Birthday. Initially, the holiday was held on the birth anniversary of Washington, on February 22. Later, in 1971, this holiday was moved to the third Monday in February.

    George Washington, the first President of the United States, was born on February 22, 1732. He served as the President for the period from 1789 to 1793 and from 1793 to 1797. He also played an important roles in the military and was the leader of the Continental Army in the American Revolution. For his contribution during the American Revolution, he has been often called the "Father of His Country".

   Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, was born on February 12, 1809. He played a key role as a savior of the Union during the U.S. Civil War and preserver of slaves. He passed Thirteenth Amendment which ended slavery in America. Lincoln was the first U.S. President to be assassinated, on April 15, 1865.

    The U.S. Embassy and the American centers remains closed in observance of this day. Schools organizes different events based on the stories of different presidents of the United States. Cherry Pie is the traditional food associated with this day. Presidents Day is celebrated with public ceremonies throughout the United States with great enthusiasm.

   George fest is a party in Eustis, Florida, which organizes activities like a carnival, chili cook-off, and an airshow on this day. At the end of the event they also crown a couple king and queen of the festival. In America, many stores have sales on this day to offer lower prices to the customers.

   Last year, the Current President Donald Trump, celebrated the President's Day by offering  a huge sale on MAGA merchandise at Trump’s online store. He offered 30 percent discount on official merchandise.

  Nowadays, most people have started to observe this day as a honor to current president and the former ones for their efforts to serve for the country.
